M 4.19- Group Project Evaluations (link to print evaluation if you lost it) & Extra Credit due tomorrow.

Absent Monday?  We wrote homework for the week, heard a portion of "Stuff: The Secret Lives of Every Day Things", identified some natural resources and did the "Science Journal" assignemnt in SciNB p. 153 (simple list of 7 objects).  Distributed Group Project Evaluation form for students to complete regarding the group Bioregion Poster from a few weeks ago.

T 4.20- Read TB p. 588-594, do SciNB p. 154.

Absent Tuesday?  We learned about estuaries, renewable & nonrenewable resources, and the resources that are found in an estuary.  Here is a link to the video clips we viewed about estuaries http://www.estuaries.gov/estuaries101/VideoCollection/VideoCollection.aspx (we only viewed the first row of videos).  You're welcome to check out the other video clips on your own!

W 4.21-Do SciNB p. 155, and answer TB p. 594 # 1, 2, 3, 5 in SciNB p. 155 (FCS, RSQ).

Absent Wednesday?  We took a surprise reading quiz on chapter 14 lesson 1 & corrected it, wrote in details about fresh water in California in SciNB p. 156 (you can call a friend or pull the information from TB p. 593), watched "The Story of Stuff" (link to see it yourself; it talkes about natural resources & how they're used in our society) http://www.storyofstuff.com/  and in periods 5 and 6, the letter regarding Draw the Line/Respect the Line was distributed (will be handed out tomorrow in the morning classes), the letter is only filled out and returend if you do NOT want your child to participate in the program.  Mrs. Reghitto has the curriculum binder in the office, and you may contact her if you wish to preview the materials.  Draw the Line/Respect the line for 6th grade is a curriculum that teaches about resisting peer pressure and has students identify their own limits, and role play while practicing refusal skills.

R 4.22- Do SciNB p. 156, and answer TB p. 594 # 4, 7, 9 in SciNB p. 156 (FCS, RSQ).

Absent Thursday? Today's activity, "Mineral Mining" re-enacted the process of mining (purchase of land, tools) and reclaimation.  We will complete the written portion of the activity in class tomorrow.  Absent students are required to make up this assignment.  Also distributed the letter regarding Draw the Line/Respect the Line for the morning classes.  The form at the bottom of the letter is only filled out and returend if you do NOT want your child to participate in the program.  Mrs. Reghitto has the curriculum binder in the office, and you may contact her if you wish to preview the materials.  Draw the Line/Respect the line for 6th grade is a curriculum that teaches about resisting peer pressure and has students identify their own limits, and role play while practicing refusal skills.  The 6th grade curriculum is NOT family life.

F 4.23- WIGWAY for ch. 10 test due Monday/Tuesday.

Absent Friday?  We completed the written portion of "Mineral Mining" and looked further at the uses of Natural Resources (renewable and non-renewable, organic and inorganic).
