Over the course of the year I have been asked a few times about how to see a student's
current grade using Portal. Since the list of work & scores do not show up in the
most obvious of places, I figured I would pass the information along to all of our
families....

1st -
<bold>
Log in to Portal
</bold>

2nd- Select the link titled "schedule" (on the left side); a frame
should appear with your student's schedule. Each class listed has a little icon that
looks sort of like a miniature notebook - this is actually a link.

3rd- Click on the notebook icon. You should now be able to see
your student's recent progress report grades, their current grade (shows up as second
semester - this is the up-to-date, cumulative grade for the semester so far) AND a
list of all assignments the teacher has entered into the grade book so far

4th- Repeat the process of going back to "schedule" and clicking on the icon for each
class.

Note: Teachers can enter an assignment without entering the scores
(usually the assignment was either recently assigned or collected & will be entered
later .... usually the case if the "score" column is empty, the teacher has yet to
enter the assignment.

Also .... Some teachers are recording missing assignments as 0 (zero points), others
are marking the assignment as missing ... either way, the assignment counts against
the student. If an X is in the box, it means the student was excused from the assignment
and it will not count against them.
