M 1/29- Bring in something small for us to imprint into clay to make a fossil.

T 1/30- Write a story about your fossil (the one you made in class today); answer these questions: 1. What is it from?  2. How did it get there?

..... note: I stamped notebooks today. Students earn stamps in their notebooks by doing their classwork and homework. As of today, students should have 10 stamps. This will be the grade for these first few weeks of the semester. If you are noticing that your student is missing stamps, encourage your student to get the work completed, and check back to be sure that work is completed.

R 2/1- Dinosaur Adaptations (due Monday)
           also finish classwork: Classifying Things

F 2/2- Science fair topic (& permission from parent/guardian AND Mrs. Fischer's permission) due Thursday, 1/8.

Science Fair group requirements: students must be in the same class, groups are limited to 4 people, group must complete and return the project early, all students in the group must have permission from Mrs. Fischer AND parents/guardians.

M 1/22- Need notebook and copy or glue standards into notebook.

Welcome back to a new semester, a fresh start!

Our focus is answering the question, "what is life?", and to learn about the classification of organisms (emphasizing the different types of living things). Along the way, we'll be working on Science-O-Rama projects (also known as Science Fair) and learning about cell reproduction, and genetics.

Students will continue to have homework on a daily basis, although sometimes it will be part of a project. Expect daily additions to the Binder Reminder.

1/16- T- Finals, 1^o, 6^o           Daily Schedule:
                                       First final: 8:24-10:02
1/17- W - Finals 2^o, 4^o         Brunch/Lunch: 10:02-10:15

1/18- R- Finals 3^o, 5^o

1/19- F- Teacher Inservice Day; No School for Students

M- 1/8-  Photosynthesis Quiz (given in class)
T- 1/9-Portfolio #4 due Friday
W- 1/10- Cheat Sheet due Friday (these are notes to use on the final; Review Sheet #1 was given in class today)
R- 1/11- Review Sheet #2  (Portfolios #1-3 were returned to students today; use them to study, save them for our end of the year final which will be cumulative for the entire school year.)
F- 1/12- Study for test.  If you did not turn in your "Cheat Sheet" (note card) you may NOT use any notes on the final. 

 

Also, since there would not be enough time for me to collect, grade and return Portfolio #4 and for you to use it to study, all students are being given full credit for the portfolio, without it being collected.

Hello! We will be using the laptops today and tomorrow in class. You have choices in what you will be doing.

Select and complete any of the ideas which were listed on the white board.

You are to store your projects and documents in your digital locker, until you have completed the project. You will then submit the finished projects to Mrs. Fischer using the drop box.

Happy New Year!  Welcome back from vacation!  With two weeks (and finals) left in the semester, we are finishing up and fitting a few last key concepts.  To help us get ready for next semester, our theme is Responsibility ...

M- No school; turn in grade check and extra credit (due by Friday; given before break on Friday)
T- 1/2 - Write 1 paragraph (5 sentences) about your responsibilites.  We went over the responsibilities of studnets in class; you may write about your responsibilities as students, at home, as a brother or sister, and/or in your job (if you have one in addition to being a student).
W- 1/3 - Complete workheet (given in class; students answer questions about the 3 demonstrations which were given during class)
R- 1/4 - Turn in the grade check and extra credit.  (Last day I am accepting Extra Credit for the semester is Friday, 1/5/07)
F- 1/5 -Sleep Well!
