Define energy as the ability to cause change, or the potential to cause change.
The heavier an object (more mass), the more kinetic energy & gravitational potential energy it has.
The faster an object is moving the more kinetic energy it has.
The higher an object is off of the ground, the more gravitational potential energy it has, and the more kinetic energy it will have when dropped.

R 2.10- Q's to answer in SciNB page 23 SumIt box are: TB p. 130 # 5, 8. & finish worksheet from class (titled: ch 3 lesson 1 Mastery & Reinforcement: Forms of Energy - click file name to download:6.3.1FormsOfEnergyReview.pdf (222.16 KB)) & study for open SciNB quiz on ch 8 lesson 3 and chapter 3 lesson 1.

in class: we took notes in SciNB p. 24, watched the video, Most Kids Hate Learning GCSE Energy Names (this is a mnemonic device - each capital letter stands for a different form of energy).  To watch video of Most Kids Hate Learning GCSE Energy Names, click here for the link to the YouTube video.  (Since this is on YouTube, parent supervision & permission is required.)

F 2.11- chapter 8 lesson 2 WIGWAP

Check out some landscapes in Oregon around Mt. Hood which are being reshaped by the Sand River.  In Janurary, snow quickly melted when up to 8 inches of warm rain fell in a 24 hour period, swelling the Sand River and causing it to change it's course, right through roads & homes!   ... Click here to read about it & watch two news video clips.  The power of water flowing downhill is amazing!
