M 5/28- Memorial Day.  No School   Note: Be sure to turn in checked out textbooks.  I will be submitting bills to the librarian on June 1 for $70. if you have not returned your book.  Thank You.
T 5/29- Define parasite in the notebook using a dictionary definition.
W 5/30- Know that (1) there are 3 types of worms, (2) the names for the 3 types of worms.
R 5/31- see packet, ch 12-4 "Review and Reinforce" and "Guided Reading" questions (required)
F 6/1- see packet, pages are: "Gusanos" and  Enrichment page (optional pages- for bonus points)

M 5/21- In class: Greatest Discoveries in Genetics with Bill Nye (review and more in depth look at applying the information which we have been learning); HW: Read "Catch up on tomato history" and underline 5 ideas that are new to you/ interesting.

T 5/22- Form groups, read and underline 5 interesting facts from your groups Fact Sheet on the tomato.  Write on the back of the paper given today, 5 facts from today's reading.  Discuss with group.  Decide on the group project and get started!  HW: Write the 5 facts from last night onto the back of the paper also.  Group the facts so similar ideas are together.

W 5/23-In class:  Complete group projects on the tomato. HW: Work on paragraphs about the tomato (due Friday).

R 5/24-In class: begin presentations, finish tomorrow.   HW: Finish paragraphs about the tomato (due tomorrow).

F 5/25-Complete presentations.  HW:  Get plenty of sleep!

M 5/14- In Class: Went of Bikini Bottom Genetics #2, designed the traits for our plants, went over Rock, Paper, Scissors data tables, answered #3.  Collected extra credit word search, collected Sun Screen label designs, handed out homework and had anywhere between 3 minutes and 10 minutes to start homework.   HW:  Sponge Bob Genetics Quiz (open notes, open worksheets, can get help from others but NOT copying from others)

T 5/15- In class: Drew diagram of the plant we designed yesterday, returned genetics surprise quiz from last week, handed out Science O Rama certificates & kudos, Genetics Quiz #2,   HW: Create your own genetics quiz.  It must have 3 questions, correctly using the terms "phenotype", "genotype", "Punnet Square", "homozygous and/or heterozygous", "hybrid and/or purebred", "dominant and/or recessive" and "probability".  Use correct spelling, punctuation and grammar.

W 5/16- In class: Present ch. 2 and 3 workbook pages to the class.  HW: Trade and Grade another persons quiz based on the grading rubric.  (if you were absent, you may grade your own quiz).

R 5/17-In class: Continue presentations of workbook pages.  Hand out list of assignments for notebook check.      HW: Take the quiz created by another student, get notebook together.  (if you were absent, you may take your own quiz)  If there are errors in the quiz, rewrite the quiz on another sheet of paper and attach.

F 5/18-Test on workbook pages (open notebooks), and Science-O-Rama presentations, and Notebook Check!  Look at the paper listing the items I will be looking for.  HW:  Wear a hat and/or other sun protection (such as long sleeves, sun glasses, and/or sunblock-Especially if you will be in Disney Land).

M 5/7 & T 5/8- Finish answering questions about Sponge Bob characters in "Bikini Bottoms Genetics".

W 5/9 & R 5/10-Finish answering questions on Sponge Bob Genetics #2 (note there is a question on the back that is difficult and I have not taught about what to do when looking at the probability of more than one trait occurring at the same time.  To answer the question, you must multiply the two percents to find the chances of both traits occurring simultaneously.) AND Rock, Paper, Scissors Data Sheet.  These items will be used on Monday in class (that is when tonight's homework is "due").

F 5/11- You are free from the state testing today (provided that you had perfect attendance and not not require a make up test).  We will be learning about skin cancer, UV rays, sunblock, and preventing skin cancer today. For homework, you are to complete the sun block worksheet, share the information on the backside with your parents, and there is an extra credit word search puzzle (due Monday into the box if you would like extra credit for doing it).  Have a wonderful weekend!
